5 Tips to Help Stick to Those New Year’s ResolutionsJanuary is the season of resolutions. Although we may have good intentions of getting into shape, we often find it difficult to stay on track once the excitement of the holidays has passed. Here at Fitness Goop, we are helping you out with 5 tips to help boost your willpower and stick to those healthy promises.

1. Commit to a fitness program for at least 120 days minimum! Approach each day one at a time, knowing that some days will be easier than others.

2. Focus on both the inner and outer benefits of exercise. Be aware of the process as well as the outcome.  Set short-term goals that measure the outer changes in your body and validate your efforts.

3. Look at exercise as an integral part of your total fitness. Include good nutrition, adequate rest, and playful activities in order to maintain balance.

4. Separate other life stresses from your fitness routine. Working out is a great stress reducer as long as you don’t approach it as work.  Face your stresses and channel them appropriately.

5. Evaluate your intentions. If you are intrinsically motivated, or doing this for someone else’s approval, you will probably drop out.  Claim the process and product of your workout as exclusively yours.
