Why Not Give A Boost To Your Metabolism

It is unavoidable, as we grow older our metabolism begins to slow down and this can lead to that dreaded extra weight gain. Believe it or not, there are some changes you can do that can help to control the weight gain and keep off those unwanted pounds. Out of the following tips, I follow four of these quite strictly and have found them to be very helpful, especially drinking the green tea, grazing with my meals, and using Rhodiola Rosea. Here are some ways to help boost your metabolism:

1. Try incorporating High-Intensity Interval Training (HIT) into your workouts – Recent research found in ScienceDaily (Jan. 30, 2009) reports that doing a few intense muscle exercises several times a week, with each lasting only about 30 seconds, can dramatically improve your metabolism.

2. Eat healthy carbohydrates. Choose low-glycemic choices. These do not cause the spikes in blood glucose levels that causes the storage of fat.

3. Try using Rhodiola Rosea. This is an adaptogenic herb used for centuries in traditional medicine. It boosts the breakdown of fat cells and that in turn can actually assist the body to burn fat better and help with weight reduction and improved metabolism.

4. Graze – Eat more “smaller” meals throughout the day. This initiates a steady caloric burn and a consistent metabolism.

5. Get into your spice cupboard. Capsaicin, black pepper and ginger all can help boost the reproduction of heat in the body, which allows for more calories to be burned.

6. Go Green – Try drinking green tea. The main antioxidant polyphenol in green tea, known as Epigallocatechin gallate or EGCG, stimulates the body to help burn calories. If you are finding that you are drinking a lot of coffee, I recommend trying to replace the coffee with a few cups of quality green tea every day.
